Comfrey roots will break up compacted soil, mulch trees and shrubs, and the leaves can be used to make a wonderful compost tea.
Comfrey is a hardy perennial growing between 36 – 42 inches high. It grows well in most soils in Zones 4 -9 and can be cut (and come again) three or four times in a growing season. Germination can be erratic and take up to three weeks. Germination is best at 68 75 F.

Sow in spring or fall. Soak seeds in water in the fridge for 48 hours or more, then sow seeds on top of warm potting soil at 68-75F and tamp down firmly. Keep moist and in gentle and warm light. Germination 10-30 days.
