Italian dandelion is hardy and can be planted as early as the soil can be worked. It is a cool-weather crop and grows best at temperatures of 60-65°F (15.5-18.3°C). Italian dandelion seed can enter thermal dormancy when exposed to high temperatures above 77°F (25°C). Optimum germination results at soil temperatures of 60-68°F (15.5-20°C).

Grow.Germination should occur within 2-15 days, but can take up to 21 days. Sow seeds about 1/4 inch deep, and once large enough, thin plants to have 12-18 inches between each plant.
Temperature.Italian Dandelions prefer soil temperatures 50-75 degrees to germinate.
Taste. Mildly bitter, the leaves do indeed taste much like dandelion, and they tonify digestion and purify the bloodstream as bitters often do.
