Limited Capacity Reopening Of The Oaks-Home Of Booker T. Washington

Beginning on Monday, May 6, the National Park Service will initiate a limited capacity reopening of The Oaks, the home of Booker T. Washington in Alabama.

The Oaks, constructed in the Queen Anne Elizabeth style, holds significant historical value as the residence of Booker T. Washington and his family.

To ensure the preservation of this historic home and to provide visitors with exceptional experience, tours of The Oaks will be available exclusively by reservation on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays with tour times at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m.  Each ranger- led tour of “The Oaks” will be limited to a maximum of 15 adult visitors and 10 youth visitors, for a maximum of 25 visitors per tour.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the Eastern National Bookstore and obtain Cancellation Stamps for the Tuskegee Institute National Historic Site at the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, located approximately 6 miles away.
