Injured Homeowner Defends Family in Deadly (for bad guy) Knife Attack

Vernon Parish, LA – In the early hours of Tuesday morning, a violent altercation occurred at a residence on Ikes Road, resulting in one fatality and two serious injuries.

At approximately 1:50 a.m., a distress call was made to 911 by a woman reporting a break-in and assault at the residence.

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office (VPSO) and Rosepine Police Department responded swiftly to the scene, where they found a woman with a stab wound, a man with a severe laceration, and another man dead from a gunshot wound.

The investigation revealed that Lavelle Tommy Tullis, 47, of Boyce, had broken into the house through a window. Tullis targeted his estranged girlfriend, who had sought refuge with friends to avoid him. In a terrifying attack in front of her children, Tullis stabbed her and inflicted a life-threatening wound on the male homeowner who attempted to intervene.

The homeowner, despite his injuries, managed to retreat to another room to arm himself. Tullis pursued him, attempting to break into the room. In an act of self-defense, the homeowner shot Tullis as he forced entry, resulting in Tullis’s death.

The male homeowner was airlifted to a medical facility in Lake Charles, where his condition remains uncertain. The injured woman was treated and released from a local hospital.

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident, but initial findings indicate that the homeowner acted in self-defense to protect his family and guests from a violent intruder.

Please keep this man in your prayers and note the importance of self-defense and the right to protect one’s home and loved ones from imminent danger.
