Greenworks 60V Razor Cut Self-Propelled Lawn Mower Review

Greenworks 60V Self-Propelled Razor Cut Lawn Mower Is Hitting The Walmart Shelves

The Greenworks 60V line has been the most successful in our opinion. Their original 21-inch mower showed off some great performance levels, and now that we’re a couple of generations in, Greenworks is kicking it up a notch. The Greenworks 60V Self-Propelled Razor Cut lawn mower is equipped with some upgraded features, a durable steel deck, and plenty of runtime, making it an all-around excellent performer.

  • Confident cutting power
  • 21-Inch steel deck
  • Plenty of runtime
  • Turbo mode helps tackle thick overgrowth
  • Single-point height adjustment

Cutting Power

This self-propelled mower features a brushless motor that churns out a top blade speed of 3,200 RPMs, allowing it to mulch, bag, and side-discharge with confidence. The side discharge doesn’t spread grass clippings as widely as a gas mower, but it shouldn’t struggle if you’re conducting regular maintenance cuts.

Razor Cut Blades

One big update Greenworks added to this mower is their stacked Razor Cut multi-blade system. This system offers improved mulching, bagging, and cut quality when compared to their standard single blade configuration.

Greenworks tells us to expect up to 80 minutes of continuous runtime, thanks to the two kitted 5.0Ah batteries. However, this mower is equipped a single battery-port, so you’ll need to swap over to the fresh battery when the time comes.

Keep in mind, ambient mowing conditions always play a role in determining and exact runtime. Based on my experience, I’d recommend this mower for half acre lots. If you’re consistently mowing more than that, I’d suggest stepping up to one of their larger models to make life a little easier!

Blade and Drive Controls

Rather than using the traditional dual presence bars to engage the self-propelled mode and blade, Greenworks opted for a pair of levers. They do work independently of each other, so you can hold down either or both sides to engage the blade and drive systems.

Compared to the dual metal bars on a lot of mowers, these levers require little effort to engage, making it a bit easier to use. The angled handles in combination with two handle height settings allowed everyone on our testing team to find a comfortable grip position.

The speed range is spot on, and you control the speed with a lever located in the center of the handle. Additionally, there’s a turbo button that kicks the blade speed into overdrive when tackling denser sections of grass.

21-Inch Steel Deck

Looking at the deck, not much has changed from a design standpoint, and for good reason! Greenworks is continuing to utilize their stamped steel deck which adds to its overall durability. This does add a little extra weight compared to a poly deck, but since this model is self-propelled, it really isn’t a big deal.

Deck Height Adjustment

I’m happy to report that this model features a single-point deck height adjustment lever. This makes it extremely easy to make fast and accurate changes on the fly. Greenworks gives you 8 positions to choose from, ranging from about 1.5 inches up to around 4 inches, making it ideal for most grass species.

Vertical Storage

Handle adjustmentHandle adjustment

The Greenworks 60V lawn mower improves on typical vertical storage features significantly by changing the handle mechanism. Rather than having to bend over to the base of the mower to release or adjust the handle, Greenworks now provides two latches toward the top of the side bars. Simply pull the latches up with the fingerholds, move the handle to where you want it, and release. The handle locks into place. The same mechanism lets you completely fold it over for storage.

  • LED headlights
  • Compatible with all Greenworks 60V batteries

Greenworks 60V Self-Propelled Razor Cut Lawn Mower Price

This mower is now available at your local Walmart, retailing for $648 as a kit. The kit includes two 5.0Ah batteries, and a rapid charger. Greenworks backs this mower with a 4-year tool and battery warranty.

The Bottom Line

Greenworks did a great job with the design of their 60V 21-inch Self-Propelled Razor Cut Lawn Mower. I believe it’s a good all-around option for weekly mowing no matter what type of grass you have. We also love that Greenworks is utilizing a dual blade system, allowing for a cleaner, more efficient cut. If your yard is in the 1/4 to 1/2 acre range, the 2 x 5.0Ah kit is a good fit. If you’re pushing toward the top end of that range or just want to get done faster, consider going with one of Greenworks’ larger riding mowers.
