I’m sure you’ve heard the old saying: “Bigger isn’t always better.” Well, the Kubota Stand-On Compact Loader (SCL1000) is a case in point. Indeed, in many jobs, you need heavy equipment, but in small spaces where standard machinery simply won’t fit. Maybe it’s to get through a tight spot in a fence line or to fit inside a narrow garage or enclosure. Kubota designed the SCL1000 precisely for such tasks.
This is one of many models that they’ve released this year. And, while almost everyone in the OPE market has been aggressive in unveiling new products, Kubota has been especially bullish. Here’s a look at what their latest addition has to offer.
Kubota Stand-On Compact Loader Performance and Design
Let’s start with what drives this beast. Kubota equipped the SCL1000 with a 24.8 horsepower turbocharged engine that has a few interesting aspects.
For one, it’s capable of high-altitude performance. Moreover, it requires no diesel particular filter (DPL). And with the hydraulic pump connected directly to the engine, Kubota tells us that it should require less maintenance.
In total, Kubota estimates this compact stand-on loader’s top speed at around 5 mph.

Of course, we’re dealing with a loader here, so, naturally, this unit’s ability to lift and carry is pretty important. This stand-on loader may be compact, but Kubota ensured it could handle a fair number of jobs.
Overall, the SCL1000 has a rated operating capacity of 1,000 pounds. In terms of reach, its vertical lift loader arms have a hinge pin height of roughly 7 feet and a reach of just over 2 feet.
Furthermore, Kubota designed this model to operate in zero clearance yards. It also has a low-impact wide track design, rated for just 4 pounds per square inch.
