Whether Work or Play, Ryobi 80V Power Source Brings Uninterrupted Power
Portable power is something that can always come in handy. Especially in the age when everything is battery-powered, being able to keep your devices topped up or charge your lithium-ion batteries on the jobsite is a necessity. Not to mention the benefits that portable power brings to the entertainment front, like tailgating or outdoor parties. Ryobi’s 80V Power Source (RY80BG02) aims to bring power wherever you need it most, and I’m going to dig deeper to see what it offers as far as performance and design.
Ryobi 80V 1000-Watt Power Source Performance
- Model: Ryobi RY80BG02
- Start-up wattage: 1800
- Running wattage: 1000
- Connects directly to 80V Ryobi battery
- Charge devices and power appliances
Ryobi’s RY80BG02 power source connects directly to a Ryobi 80V suitcase-style battery to provide power on the go. The most important figure here is what this unit can generate, and with power sources, there are two numbers to consider.
First, there’s the startup wattage of 1800W, which is the initial jolt of power that starts up the machine. Then, there’s the running wattage, which is the amount of power it produces during normal operation. As you may have guessed from the name, the Ryobi 80V power source provides up to 1000W of running output.
Based on these numbers, you can charge and power an extensive list of devices and appliances. Specifically, Ryobi provides an estimated runtime of 12 hours for a refrigerator, or up to 20 hours for a 32-inch TV using just one 80V battery. However, the possibilities are endless. You can power phones, laptops, batteries, appliances, fans, lights, and more.
Since many of these devices are sensitive, this unit powers them safely using pure sine wave technology that won’t harm the batteries of small electronics.

In terms of design, there’s more to talk about than meets the eye. For starters, there are 5 outlets— two 120V AC ports, two USB-A ports, and one USB-C port. An LCD screen tells you your battery level and current load level, with indicator buttons for power and AC output adjacent to the screen.
What really makes this model stand out is the ability to hook the 3-foot cable directly up to Ryobi’s 80V lawn tractor charge port. This design enables you to access the runtime of all three 80V batteries connected to the tractor for triple the runtime.
