The Oakton 00654-12 is a one-pint, 12.45 pH buffer solution for use with meters that have 0.001 resolution for more accurate readings. A buffer solution is used to calibrate instrumentation for accuracy in testing waters in field and lab applications. This pH buffer solution is standardized against NIST-traceable references for quality control. The bottle is labeled with pH vs. temperature tables for accurate calibration reference, as well as the name and CAS number for all ingredients for safety and to conform to “Right-to-Know” requirements. It has Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol (PETG)-bottle packaging to improve shelf life, and a freshness date for quality.
The 00654-12 is a buffer solution that has NIST values of 12.45 pH, accuracy at 25 degrees C (77 degrees F), + or – 0.01 pH. Use with pH meters and electrodes (sold separately).
A buffer solution is a mixture of water and chemical to produce specific pH (acidity). It minimizes the change in the acidity of a solution, when an acid or base is added to the solution. Buffer solutions are used to protect equipment and calibrate instrumentation for accuracy in aquaculture, hydroponics, and in other scientific applications. Buffer values are dependent upon temperature, and are more accurate at the same temperature as samples.
