Hello once again, America the Beautiful—the Manchester Mothmen are back by popular demand! This time, we’re here to stay.
So, what makes us the best? Come on, who else is making moth traps with that unforgettable shade of lapis lazuli blue? And which other brand name gives you the daily dose of alliteration you so desperately crave?
Jokes aside, we’re the UK’s number 1 moth trap for a reason! We don’t skimp out on the pheromones, for one thing, nor do we cut costs on the high quality glue that covers the inside of our traps. This gives our traps a more powerful radius of attraction while preventing the possibility of an escape. Each moth caught will result in a massive reduction to the overall problem! Our traps are also odourless and contain just three vital ingredients: paper, glue and sweet, sweet pheromones. Plus, by avoiding the need for a separate pantry moth trap and a separate clothes moth trap, we’re doing our bit for the environment too!
We know what customers need, and provide value wherever we can. For example, let’s look at you: given that almost nobody reads Amazon descriptions these days, you’re a right diligent buyer! You’ve likely already got an infestation, or are very concerned about moth prevention, and are trying to read up on the topic as much as you can. You’ve come to the right place!
So, the first thing you need to know is that clothes & pantry moths are deadbeat parents. We’re not kidding, their life cycle consists of mating, abandoning their children in your clothes/food and then promptly dying. It’s not moths that eat your belongings, it’s their larvae. These eggs will be laid in clusters ranging between 30 and 200, and once they hatch, the devouring begins.
Here’s the main species our traps catch:
Common Clothes Moth
Pale-backed Clothes Moth
Case-bearing Clothes Moth
Indian Meal Moth (also known as pantry moths)
If you’re having trouble identifying the moth species in your home, feel free to send us a photo and we’ll happily take a look!
What’s great about our use of dual pheromones is, you don’t need to worry about distinguishing between pantry moths or clothes moths, as our traps will catch both!
But you know what’s even better? You can start tackling an infestation right here, right now, even before our traps arrive! Since pheromone traps use female pheromones to target male moths, they’ll break the breeding cycle, but they can’t do anything about the eggs that have already been laid. That’s where you come in.
For clothes moths, you should clear out all clothes wherever you’ve seen moths or noticed damage. Stick the clothes in the washing machine at 120 Fahrenheit (minimum), and for whatever can’t handle this temperature, we’d suggest getting it dry cleaned. These methods will kill the eggs that have already been laid. While your clothes are in the wash, we’d recommend creating a spray made with a 1:1 ratio of white vinegar and water, and using this solution to clean the surfaces of your closets. The acidity will destroy any eggs or larvae in the vicinity. It’s good for use as a moth spray too, doubling as a pantry moth killer and a clothes moth killer.
If the clothes moths in your home have used your carpets for their food source instead, we’d recommend spraying the skirting with the white vinegar/water solution, along with any patches of damage. After that, we’d highly recommend steam cleaning the entire thing, especially underneath furniture!
For pantry moths, you should search all containers of dried food in your home: at least one of these will have larvae present. Throw this out, far away from your home, and then use the solution mentioned above to clean nearby surfaces. We’d recommend buying airtight storage containers for the future!
Once your traps arrive, hang them up near any sources of food or clothes. That’ll take care of the adult male moths, so you can start to relax! Since moths have such short life spans, you won’t have to worry long about the female moths—they’ll die within a week or two, unfulfilled.
What about the alternatives? Well, we’d advise you to avoid moth balls, since they contain toxic substances. As for cedarwood and lavender, these can work well as moth repellents for closets but only if they contain enough of the active substance (oil) inside. Since these tend to stay in storage for so long, it’s difficult to measure this, and that’s why we think pheromone traps are so much more reliable. Then again, we would say that, wouldn’t we?
DOUBLE THE VALUE: We’ve sprayed our moth traps for clothes with additional pheromones that target pantry moths too, helping you tackle a total of six different pest species!
LARGER SURFACE AREA: Our traps are spacious and long-lasting (3 months!), giving you ample capture space to put a huge dent into any infestation with just a single trap.
GUIDE INCLUDED: Forget eBooks that nobody downloads, we’ve gone ahead and stuck an expert guide into the box itself! Years of experience condensed into an easily-read booklet will transform you into the spirit of vengeance the moths tell their larvae about at night. Knowledge is power!
NO INSECTICIDES: The pheromones lure them in, and the glue keeps them in. No need for any other substances!
EXPERT ADVICE: Purchasing our traps entitles you to as much advice regarding your moth infestation as you need—we love a good natter, so don’t hesitate to ask away!
