YETI, the company best known for its durable coolers, has announced the purchase of a backpacking brand called Mystery Ranch.
YETI is a prominent name in the outdoor industry. The company began about two decades ago and has become the industry standard for extreme coolers. Despite their price, the company remains a dominant force in the market.
Meanwhile, Mystery Ranch has continued to grow in popularity in recent years. The company focuses on styles of backpacks that range from military grade to firefighting to the casual outdoor enthusiast.
Mystery Ranch fits in well with YETI, as the company focuses on durable gear. Both companies market heavily to the hunting and fishing community, which could further grow their reputation for creating rugged gear.
“Mystery Ranch packs have earned a global reputation within the most demanding communities by building load-bearing equipment that delivers in the harshest environments. Their ethos, passion and people not only align with the YETI team but also connect well with our commitment to innovation and our customers,” said Matt Reintjes, President & CEO at YETI, in the company’s press release. “Their communities, ambassadors and obsession with quality make it a natural fit with YETI.”
YETI, which is based in Austin, TX, and Mystery Ranch, from Bozeman, MT, are expected to stay in their hometowns for the foreseeable future. The press release does say the two will start working together to integrate their products.
